Shadow of wheel that opens and closes a gate at the Kirkfield Locks
To open or close the gate that allows water to fill or empty the canal lock, the operator pushes on the yellow bar and walks in a circle around the wheel.
I've never seen one of those contraptions before. What a fun shadow it casts! If the person responsible for opening and closing the gate performs this task a lot they must keep very fit. Walking around and around so often. I'd get dizzy! ;D
Name change: Originally, I started this blog to show the world what a wow place East Gwillimbury is. But I have wandered well beyond EG's borders! EG is still in my name as I am still based there. My family calls me CameraGirl because I take my camera with me wherever I go.
10 friends stopped by to say:
what a great pattern is created in the shadow...

Excellent, EG. You are so clever. MB
At the Kirkfield Locks,
whirling, swirling shadows play
as barges inch by.
My Shadow Shot
I'm sure glad you included that second shot...I could not figure out where the twirling rope-like shadow was coming from.
Nicely done!
What a great shadow shot! I've never seen one of those, so thanks for the second shot! And you are indeed clever!
Enjoy your day!
