Ligularia/ Today's Flowers

September blossoms on Ligularia ‘Desdemona’

I grow this Ligularia for it's beautiful leaves, green on top with purple undersides. But at the end of summer I receive a bonus: dark yellow daisy-like flowers. This plant grows nicely in shade and in moist areas.

Lantern/ Shadow Shot

Shadow of old kerosene lantern on wood

I think the lantern shadow looks like a dancing alien. What do you think?

Make My Day/ Ruby Tuesday

Pub sign in Beaverton, Ontario

If I'd believed Clint Eastwood really was inside this pub, I'd have been inside in a flash!

Shadows on Rozanne's beautiful blue blossoms

Rozanne is my favourite cranesbill geranium. This year she has been a good, good girl, blooming ALL summer.

Turn To Open/ Shadow Shot

Shadow of wheel that opens and closes a gate at the Kirkfield Locks

To open or close the gate that allows water to fill or empty the canal lock, the operator pushes on the yellow bar and walks in a circle around the wheel.

Joyride Overhead/ Ruby Tuesday

Up, up and away!

We don't often see hot air balloons any more, although we used to see lots before their take-off area became a soccer field. Please note that the basket is Ruby Tuesday red.

Monarch on Buddleia/ Today's Flowers

No monarch can resist a butterfly bush (Buddleia)!

Monarchs (and other butterflies) have been scarce in my gardens this year. (The summer has been chilly and wet. ) But a few monarchs have finally arrived at this Buddleia beside my kitchen door.

G/ ABC Wednesdays

G is for Go Transit, which connects the suburbs and boonies to Toronto

This is a bike sculpture atop a bike rack at the East Gwillimbury Go Transit station. I like how the tires appear to spell GO and the bar across looks like a T for Transit.
