A Really Big Shoe/ Ruby Tuesday

Fire and Ice: A Really Big Shoe, Haliburton Sculpture Forest

Last Friday my husband and I visited the Haliburton Sculpture Forest, near the village of Haliburton, Ontario. Trails wend their way through the forest of unique sculptures by Canadian and international artists

Imagine our shock when we happened upon this lost shoe. Was it Cinderella's? (Didn't Cindy have TINY feet? This shoe is 2 metres or 6 feet tall!)

Could it belong to Dorothy, who clicked her ruby heels and returned to Kansas...without one shoe? (Nah, Dorothy was too young to wear stilettos!)

Whatever! We didn't stick around to MEET the person who lost this HUGE slipper.

Made of steel rods, faceted crystal beads and stainless steel wire, this sculpture was was created by Charles O'Neil, a resident of the Haliburton Highlands.

Seeing red? Why not join in the Ruby Tuesday fun, by visiting MaryT at http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/

I like the giantess's shoe. The artist has evidently put lots of work in it.
Somehow even art get better, when carefully crafted.
Hope you enjoy summer too.

EG, what an incredible RED show for Ruby Tuesday! I could use this as a badge for Ruby Tuesday! Is Haliburton any relationship to Dick Cheney's Haliburton company?

That is a beautiful red shoe.

I don't know about this...I mean, really. The last thing I want to find when wandering through a forest is some gargantuan red shoe sitting on a rock...

...that would confuse me. I'm still looking for Bigfoot.

How funny. It seems like a great setting for these modern sculptures.

Maybe the shoes belong to Cinderella, :D

Wow, Ms. T.G! I can just imagine coming face to face with that.
With the help of Google I found that Charles O'Neil named his sculpture "Fire and Ice: A Really Big Shoe."
You can read about it here:

You can scroll up and down to read about the other sculptures. He did another one for the park.

Happy RT! I picked the little Dodge Dart because I like blondes! :)

Very good choice for Rt but a bit weird to put such a statue in the middle of a forest.

What an amazing shoe. That's fun sculpture!

Wow! How cool! It inspires me to post a photo I took at a local youth sculpture park of a pair of very large red Converse sneakers. They are, however, not nearly as refined as this ruby slipper! Still, I may just post that shot for next week...

Oh man, I like this huge shoe.

A fellow not too far from here made a pair of cowboy boots and they must have been over 10 feet tall. Shiny silver and gorgeous. They are in Colorado now. Someone actully bought them. I wanted to ask the artist how much but didn't.

As Ed Sullivan who have said:
That's a rilly big shew. MB

Perhaps it belongs to the giant's wife from Jack in the Beanstock. If it was mine I don't think I would ever have a problem finding it as I often do with my shoes.

Now that's a SHOE. Am I the only one who caught the Ed Sullivan joke? "really big shoe"

Happy Ruby Tuesday and photo seeking. You always find interesting things to share with us blog friends.

It belongs to Cinderella's step sister. She threw it at Cinderella and the prince when they rode off to the palace. LOL
