Not everyone has a cell phone. Telephone booths are still useful
Who remembers Lily Tomlin on Laugh-in as a switchboard operator? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out this video.

I see the booth but where's the phone. And if there is a phone is there still a phone book. It seems every phone booth has the book ripped out. MB
I sure remember Lily Tomlin as the switchboard operator...!
Gone out on date... here.. or no... maybe some of them works.. I can remember the "old" days when we had to stay in queue, to make a call home.. haha! :D
I remember Lily Tomlin. I also remember having to book calls to countries outside UK.
they are a rare sighting nowadays though, and most of them only accepts phone cards nowadays.
great take.
nice looking booth... but are you sure there is a phone in there? maybe it is used for nefarious means...
MB and Lesley,
If this is like the phone booth I checked out today in another town, the phone is on the corner, actually facing kitty-corner, and there is NO PHONE BOOK! :)
"Is this the party to whom I am speaking?" And pay phones are hard to find around here, with or without a booth.
Very nice pic! In France there aren't such beautiful booths! Alas!
Thanks for sharing!

Have a nice day****
I like the old phone booths but a mobile phone is preferable on a cold (the wind seemed to whistle through)
I always wanted my own phone booth. Today it would be nice to see more of them and hear less public conversations.
