Gingerbread Trim/ Sepia Scenes

Gingerbread (aka bargeboard) trim on gable of old house

Driving through small town Ontario I noticed this gingerbread-trimmed gable with a whirlygig shape in the centre. I had never seen it before so s-c-r-ee-ch went the brakes and I took this photo. Then...

look! Another gingerbread-trimmed gablewith a whirlygig shape in the centre. But it may have been  cut out by a different crafts person as the whirlygigs are turning in opposite directions.

The gingerbread trim has something else in common. Both need paint!

Metallic Flower/Yard Art

HUGE bloom in small town, Ontario backyard

I spotted this from the sidewalk between two houses leading to a public space near a river, which shall go un-named because, frankly, I cannot remember. My camera begged me to photograph this for Yard Art. Of course I obliged.

Behind Bars/ Mid-week Blues

Lakota watching evening activities from his second-storey porch

Lakota is not as UNhappy as you might think. He's well-fed, his people are close by and he's at his summer getaway. PLUS there's lots going on, certainly enough to make even a nosy husky happy.

Walnut Farm/ Ruby Tuesday

A well-kept East Gwillimbury farm

I hope it's not true - but I fear that it is - this farm has already been sold to a developer and will soon become a housing development. I have been admiring this place for years.

But it IS in the path of rapid change. Alas, this is another sign that the Greater Toronto Area is ever growing.

Steam Engine/ Sepia Scenes

Steam locomotive, Memorial Park, Lindsay, Ontario

It was more fun climbing this train than photographing it as there were two trains in this park so close together that it was difficult to take a decent shot.  I'm thinking that whoever planned this display was NOT a photographer.

Side view of steam locomotive

However, it brought back many memories for my husband whose uncle was an engineer and let him climb into a similar cab when he was a kid.

Beside the Pond/ Ruby Tuesday

A comfy place to sit and enjoy the pond

Today is a warm summer day, the perfect day to sit in one of these chairs and read a book.  You can't see it in this photo, but there are branches of a tree overhanging the chairs. Also, the chairs are light enough to move into the shade.

But it's not my pond.

Pigeon River/ Sunday Bridges

Highway 7 crossing  Pigeon River, Omemee, Ontario

On our way to Peterborough, Ontario LAST Sunday, we passed through Omemee (Pronounced "Oh Mimi") and over Pigeon River. We didn't see any pigeons on or under the bridge, but we did see waterlilies on the river.

Doorway Onto Pond/ Window Views

Beside chainsaw artist Mark Andrew's private pond near Peterborough, Ontario

Chainsaw art is quite popular  these days and this is one example of how such sculptures can be used to enhance a property with a pond.

Bench/ Ruby Tuesday

Right side of "Evolution"

"Evolution" is a bench in the Haliburton Sculpture Forest  carved out of a boulder and extended with bright red steel.

Unfortunately I could not stand back far enough to capture it in one photo without also capturing a tree standing right in front of it (See below).
