Stouffville Footbridge/ Sunday Bridges

Wooden footbridge over slow-running creek

I was hunting down butterflies when I spotted this wooden bridge in a town park south of East Gwillimbury. Stouffville (pronounced Stow-vill) used to advertise itself as "country close to the city" but lately much of the town has been swallowed up by housing developments and malls.  This park retains the character of the old Stouffville.

Fence/ Shadow Shot Sunday

Wrought iron fence and shadow

In addition to the shadow here, I like the texture of the asphalt.

Corn and More Corn/ Scenic Sunday

Corn is almost as "high as an elephant's eye"

Corn - sweet and  the cow variety - is loving this summer's heat.

Red Gliders/ Ruby Tuesday

Vintage glider beside Lake Simcoe

I'm not sure how often this nifty glider is used. Not lately, for sure, as there are cobwebs on a few of the moving parts.

AH! There are two!

Rudbeckia in the Wild/ Mosaic Monday

Rudbeckia growing wild on two man-made hills on a road between East Gwillimbury and Uxbridge

How the seeds for these rudbeckia got where they are I do not know,  but they are growing among vetch, Queen Anne's lace and yarrow.  I just HAD to photograph them in Nature's garden.

Beaver River/ Sunday Bridges

Footbridge over Beaver River, Cannington, Ontario

Here the river flows northwesterly through cattails and waterlilies on it's way to Lake Simcoe.  Park land lies on both sides of the river.

Barns in the Distance/ Scenic Sunday

Overcast yet beautiful

When I first moved to Ontario, the license plates said "Ontario: Keep it beautiful." I think most of Ontario still is.

Now the license plates say: "Ontario: Yours to discover." I have been here more than 25 years and I am still discovering Ontario!

Antique Doors/ Window Views

Doors at a garage Sale

I'm not sure these doors are truly antiques...but they are definitely old. And they need work. Does the sign mean the owner will pay me $25 to take them off his hands?

No way. Even if he gave me $250 I wouldn't take them.

Old Trike/ Sepia Scenes

Tricycle at an antique and collectibles shop, Blackwater, Ontario

Nope, not mine...although, come to think of it, it might look great in my gardens.  This trike has seen better days. It's rusty now so would have been a natural sepia photo if it weren't for the green grass.  (This year, Ontario is fairly green for July.)

To convert it to sepia, I first converted the photo to black& white in Photoshop Elements, then added a sepia layer at 85 per cent.

Playhouse/ Mid-Week Blues

Playhouse, I think

It's small - probably about five feet tall - and in a side yard. But I didn't see anyone playing in it.

Roadside/ Mosaic Monday

At the side of the road, Uxbridge, Ontario

Ontario roadsides are colourful in July.  Starting with the largest square and working clockwise: mountain ash berries, goldfinch (it refused to turn around and look at me!), wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa), evening primrose (Oenothera biennis), tansy (Tanecetum vulgare), and Canada thistle (Circium arvense).

Shadows of the fence above the dam at Healey Falls

HELP/ Theme Day Thursday

Debris is being cleared around an East Gwillimbury pond

A worker used a chainsaw to cut the trees and shrubs down on this lot, but to pull out the stumps more HELP was needed.

At first I didn't believe this small shovel was up to the job...but I was wrong. It was a great HELP.

The Theme Thursday challenge this week is HELP.
