Early Autumn/ Sky Friday

North of Holt (part of East Gwillimbury)

Tall Ship/ Sepia Scenes

In the back window of the VIA Rail station, Parry Sound, Ontario

I wonder why there's a ship in the window of the old railway station. Maybe it has something to do with Parry Sound being a port on Lake Huron. Maybe.

K/ ABC Wednesday

Belted KINGFISHER

Belted KINGFISHEFRS are medium-sized birds that live near rivers, lakes and saltwater estuaries where they are sometimes spotted sitting on tree limbs or on power wires searching for fish, lizards or insects.

They live across southern Canada and in fact used to be on the back of Canada's five dollar bill.

Blue Jays/ Mosaic Monday

Blue jays at our feeder

Blue jays love black oil sunflower seeds so they tolerate me and my camera as long as I don't get too close. The seeds are worth it!

Barrel and Sign/ Sepia Scenes

Old stop sign - NOT red!

The original sign was black on white, which makes me wonder when RED became the colour for all stop signs in Ontario.

Sumac/ Ruby Tuesday

Berries on staghorn sumac (Rhus typhina)

The berries are very red now and stand out above the green leaves. I took this photo a week or so ago and noticed today that some sumac leaves are now quite yellow, orange and red, especially north of here.
