Rock OUTCROPPINGS, Cottage Country, ONTARIO

These granite OUTCROPPINGS are exposed bedrock, part of the Precambrian Shield (also known as the Canadian Shield), a horse-shoe-shaped area around Hudson Bay that covers nearly half of Canada and a small part of the northern United States.

ORANGE = Precambrian Shield where these OUTCROPPINGS OCCUR

The rocks that form the shield were once far below the earth's surface. It's some of the earth's OLDEST rock.

True, it's autumn but there's still lots of life outdoors! A few trees now have bare limbs but many still had yellow leaves. Farmers who have been working their fields have not been out there alone - sea gulls are right there to "help."  This pileated woodpecker was busily capturing end-of-the-season bugs and this cow was enjoying some autumn sunshine.

Gotta love this clean, shiny car

No, not my car. But I admire people who keep their vehicles clean enough to capture clear reflections. This car has reflections of it's own garage, it's neighbour's and even the door of the house across the street!

In great condition, the shell of the building  has been converted into a home. It's still out in the country with plenty of land around it.
