Bleeding Hearts/ Today's Flowers

Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra spectablis)

Bleeding hearts multiply like weeds in my gardens...but I still LOVE them. I have them in sun and shade, pink and also a white variety. Plus I have several less invasive cultivars with fern-like leaves. Planted in the shade they can bloom well into July.

If you love flowers check out Today's Flowers at http://flowersfromtoday.blogspot.com/

Lovely. I love your shot.

Mine died. I guess it didn't like my garden - the vinca and sweet woodruff won out.

I'm seeing bleeding hearts everywhere in blogland at the moment. What lovely weeds to have in your garden:-)

They grew wild where my grandmother grew up, and yet trying to grow them in my climate is near impossible. I just love them, and your photo is absolutely spectacular.

I love bleeding heart and lost mine years ago to a drought so it's a pleasure seeing yours.

Looking at this gorgeous shot, I can't imagine that they are so invasive! *Drool*

I have the red one you show here and a white one, and relatively recently (in the last two years)they started spreading. I have transplanted them into other places because they are beautiful and hardy, and I have given a few away, but soon I will have to start weeding them out!

They do like to be moist, and suffer in hot, dry weather, though!

I love these things but I don't think they grow down here...but then I'm not sure...which is a pity...they are so pretty!

I've tried several times to plant a Bleeding Heart in my mountain garden but have no luck. I'm not sure if it's too cold for them or if the growing season is just too short. It was one of my Mother's favorites - makes me remember her.

Great shot. I really like Bleeding Heart. I have/had a beautiful on called Gold Heart but I just noticed last week someone or something stepped right in the middle of it and now it is dying so I will just pull it up. The root will live and grow again. MB
