Trumpet Vine/ Today's Flowers

Looking into the trumpets of Campsis radicans

A favourite of hummingbirds makes this a vine popular with me.  This vine has the potential of being invasive but not where I live in Ontario where the vine dies back to the ground every winter.  This however was flowering last week in St. Catharines, Ontario.

I love trumpet vines -- and anything that attracts hummingbirds is a bonus for sure! That is one thing about hard winters -- plants (and bugs) can't overrun the place as easily (in contrast to both Florida and Oregon where we spend the majority of our time now).

Aptly named flowers - I can imagine music coming from those mouths.

It's the side view of the trumpet flower that makes one really appreciate its uniqueness. Sachmo, move over!

Toodle toot!! I like Campsis also. It is not invasive here either---not that I know of anyway.

Wonderful shots How do you get the background to look so vague? MB

Beautiful! I always thought these were weeds, but now I'm actually considering planting one in the yard. I do love butterflies.

That's beautiful. I also like trumpet vine. Here they die back in the winter but they grow so vigorously in spring that the vines are thick up the trees. They lose all the leaves when it gets cold but by spring the thick bare vines start leafing out here. So I guess they are invasive but I still like them.

I agree, any flower that a hummingbird likes is popular with me as well. Beautiful photos, the second one looks like a painting.

These are SO exotic, and yet tough. Your photos elevate them to the place they deserve. I haven't seen a hummingbird yet this season
:(
Thanks for sharing the beauty!

I think trumpet vine flowers are so beautiful...but I hate the way it can strangle a tree almost.
