CARRIAGE lawn ornament, Stouffville, Ontario

This carriage sits in front of a home in an older section of town.  Stouffville was originally settled by Mennonites but I don't know whether this is a local artifact or not.

Pretty darn nice lawn ornament.

That's just begging to be hitched to a pony and wheeled away.

If this were my carriage I think I'd take it out of the lawn and away from the elements. It looks like a really nice one.

That's a great carriage. I wouldn't mind having that in front of my house.

Reminded me of the cycle rickshaws and carriages which were pulled by humans in Calcutta of olden days!!

This is a fine picture of this well preserved buggy. They always seem to have so much class and quality. Well done.

It certainly looks like it could be an authentic artifact. What a great selection for the day.

Looks real to me... we see lots of those in St. Thomas. Though the horses are attached and pulling.

Amazing that its a lawn ornament in front of someone's home.
Perfect choice for the letter C.

It would be interesting if you actually saw someone sitting in it, reading and having a drink... I would do that.

Lovely to look at but I wonder just how comfortable being a passenger in such a contraption would be :)

Interesting! In my country we still have carriages at historical sites for tourists to enjoy their rides. They are ridden by human, not ponies.

To each his/her own...but a lawn ornament ain't how I would use this. Looks like it should be in a museum; it's in fairly good shape.

Interesting lawn ornament, it would look nice with some flowers in it, or perhaps just to sit in with a cooling drink.

Whenever I put anything in our garden, the elements chew away at it pretty fast... How does this pretty carriage survive for years?

Rose said...

Can you imagine that being your only way to get around? I cannot help but think back to earlier times when I go see Sarah, and think if this had been even a hundred years ago, it would not be quite so easy to go see her.
