False Sunflower/ Today's Flowers

False sunflower (Heliopsis 'Prairie Sunset')

I like the red eye of this long-blooming Heliopsis - now through September if I cut off the spent blossoms. It grows in a sunny, sandy spot in my garden.

I dunno. I feel sort of cheated. A "false" sunflower? My goodness, there are so many false things in our world, so many fakes walking our streets, can't we at least have a "real" sunflower? Please?

I was just faking - it's beautiful!

I would see how some people would think it's a sunflower. I was surprised at how many people thought black-eyed Susans were sunflowers. Probably a member of the daisy family?? You're the flower expert!

I had about given up trying to find a name for this little beauty! My book says there are 20 species of sunflowers, and now you are telling me there are false sunflowers as well...

Awesome composition! The great blurred background makes the yellow pop.
