I did not know this...It's not much different from cows...some are for milking and some are raised for beef. Tho, I've heard that they do butcher the milk cows for beef and the flavor is not as good as the beef cattle.

Love the posing goat on the crossing. Never thought of there being two types of goats before. Actually I really don't even think about goats...(:0)

I don't think I have ever eaten goat, but I'd love to try. The goat crossing is neat, do they use it to get from their barn to their pasture?

I think that crossing is a great idea, - I wonder if it would work for sheep?

Lots of goat meat in the Philippines; tastes a lot like mutton... but as a vegetarian, I guess that means little to you. :-D Rarely eat goat myself as it needs to be stewed, and I'm not partial to stews, especially not in our hot weather.

I used to live in a neighbourhood with lots of Jamaicans and every now and then there would be a bbq set up with goat meat on the menu. tasty. I tried not to think how cute they used to be.

The Indian restaurant in the neighborhood has goat on the weekend. Yum.

Can't say that I ever heard of a Boer Goat before today.

And I don't remember ever eating Goat meat before either. Something new to look forward to, I guess?

When I saw the xing on the end of the sign I thought it was a Chinese type, until the penny dropped, doh. Love the dedicated crossing, hope they can make a dash for freedom across it.

That's a grand looking goat. Great choice for G.

Gee, I never knew about goat being bred for its meat. When my girls were small, we'd bike a ways to see the goats at a farm nearby...it was amazing to see how intelligent they are. And now to think of killing them for meat...hmmm, don't know about that.

weird :/ the road out to my mom's has these goats staked out to eat the weeds. We just drive around them.

Although I've never tried it, barbecued goat is supposedly quite delectable.

Interesting goat facts. I knew little of goats and had never heard of Boer Goats. Superb photos!

Boer Goats are great by the look of it. We have more sheep than goats in my country. I often buy goat cheese, I love it.
