Port Perry/ Signs, Signs

Queen Street, Port Perry

Something about this town draws me back again and again. A small shopping centre with a Walmart is in the process of being built on the outskirts of town. I fear for the shops on this main street.

Count me in as someone else that keeps on returning to Port Perry. I don't think you will have to worry about Walmart. Downtown Port Perry is awesome.

What a cute town. I'm glad Andy thinks Port Perry will be okay with Walmart moving in.

Let's hope Wal-Mart can't offer the same goodies that these little shops do. Although I must say Wal-Mart has brought many more shopping opportunities to people who live in rural areas. If it weren't for Wal-Mart, in my area the nearest all-around shopping would be hours away.

Very inviting looking shops. Too bad about the Walmart moving in.

How quaint! Love it!

It's a lovely place and I'm jealous 'cause we have so few of these. But we've got tons of Walmarts. It is very unfortunate that Walmart is coming in here. It will damage the town forever in more ways than one can imagine!

Reminds me of the town I grew up near.

Such a delightful olde worlde ambience in this streetscape! May Walmart be very very far out of town if they must be there! And love the creative signs there too!

Between you and Andy, I am also drawn to this town!

I always like this downtown too! Bah humbug to Walmart.

I hope people would continue to patronize the shops despite Walmart's presence.

Beautiful photo! I'd love to visti a place like that with some character. Hope the Walmart doesn't influence the shopping street trading too much.

beautiful street
love the red brick
Walmart is a disaster so I hope they fail
not that I have any strong feelings of course ;)

I think a few shops here could put a hex on Wall Mart.

I like the style of these signs. Beautiful.

Gorgeous shot! That looks like something right out of a movie set, almost too good to be true! Here's hoping that these adorable shops can coexist peacefully with the Walmart guys, and everyone can live happily ever after...

I like that too.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year full of peace, health and LOVE

It's okay in my book to use archived photos. In fact, I'm getting ready to use one myself - maybe even today!

Walmart could never have the ambiance of small town/downtown streets like this! I love that "Native Focus" sign - it's wonderful!

Love the quaint shops with their special ambiance, but I do NOT like the idea of the Wally World coming in. They will kill out the small retailers every time. It happened here in Lexington, and it will probably happened there, too. So sad. ...and they treat their employees who I know like trash. Wonder what Sam Walton is thinking now from wherever he is. genie
