East of Uxbridge/ Barn Charm

A snowy day in rural Ontario

Even on a snowy day,  red-stained barns stand out.

Yard Art/ Ruby Tuesday

Yard Art?

These two boats are stored beside a house somewhere in Ontario near Lake Huron.  It never ceases to amaze me what some people store in their side yards. I think the smaller boat had red trim before it turned to rust.

Trotters/ Mosaic Monday

Exercising just outside Uxbridge, Ontario

It often surprises me how pleased some people are when I stop to take photos of them. This fellow very graciously thanked me.

Orono/ Sunday Bridges

A public park in Orono, Ontario

Actually, there were three identical bridges spanning this creek but I couldn't get them into one photo as the creek is a bit winding.

Drip, Drip/ Shadow Shots

Dripping in the sun

I love how the siding changes the straight lines of the icicles into squiggles in the shadow.

Watsons Guardian Drugs

I didn't go in but looking onto the windows it looks like the Watsons Guardian Drugs sells more than just health products.

This bus needs a bath!

Have you ever noticed how many signs there are on a school bus?

Cobourg/ Mid-Week Blues

Beach in winter, Cobourg, Ontario

An incredibly beautiful sunny day and the beach is empty. Not even a lifeguard!

Three shades of blue: sky, water and roof on lifeguard station. And there's orange: snow fence to keep snow from drifting.

B/ ABC Wednesdays

Metallic BENCH in an Uxbridge, Ontario park

I love the motif on the back of this park BENCH. I have no idea if this is comfortable to sit on as I didn't try it out.

Many horses are treated like royalty in Ontario's Township of King.

Winter Flamingo/ Ruby Tuesday

Pink flamingo with a ruby glow

This flamingo was blushing - not sure why - on a counter in a small town eatery where we stopped for a quick bite.

Bus Stops/ Mosaic Monday

Waiting for the school bus

Waiting for the school bus to arrive can be a chilling experience, so homemade school-bus-stop shelters are common at the end of long country driveways here in Ontario.

A/ ABC Wednesday

"A" Cab is a cab, Bracebridge, Ontario

(With apologies to William Shakespeare)
What's in a name? That which we call "A" Cab by any other name would be, you guessed it,  a cab.

Century Home/ Window Views

Atop an old home, Port Perry Ontario

I'm not sure why some very old homes have these towers, but they certainly add to their grandeur.

The Roxy/ Signs, Signs

Movie Theatre, Uxbridge, Ontario

The Roxy looks old, but today you can see new and/or old movies  seven days a week, which include weekend and holiday matinees. And in summer they show family films during the day and a teen film on Fridays...as well as films for adults.

Sadly, I have never seen a movie here. Hmmm.  Maybe something needs to be done about THAT! To see what's playing NOW,  click HERE

Store Front/ Mid-Week Blues

A village shop that carries home and garden decor. I bet it's a great place to browse on a winter day...but we were in a hurry to move on.
