P/ABC Wednesday

POWERED by the wind, Sea Breeze, New York

P is for POWERED

These photos were taken during Easter weekend when my husband and I were visiting relatives in Upstate New York. It was a cold, blustery day. I guess it was the blustery part that lured this kitesurfer and kite onto the water.

Cutting it close

The kitesurfer  kept moving in and out from the shore obviously enjoying the ride. He looks kind of close to the breakwater for my taste, but I was using my zoom lens, which probably makes him look closer to the rocks than he actually is.

 Two kitesurfers

Somehow they did not get tangled in each other's kite strings.

I am linking to ABC Wednesday.

Very nice action shots. I can't understand why people would do this on a cold, blustery day, though. Well, blustery means good winds, I guess, but cold? Nah. I almost took a pic of a golf cart with Ontario plates last evening, but then figured I'd teased you enough about all the Ontarions down here. Later I realized I hadn't teased you enough and regretted not taking the shot.

I chalk it all up to old age and being tired from resting so much.

Happy May 1!

This was probably quite the adrenaline rush!

Exciting to watch but not my cup of tea.
He really looks too close for comfort.

Great shots and it looks like fun. I get nervous when I see things like that because I got caught swimming in an undertow as a teen and was rescued by a motorboat mere minutes before being tossed against the rocks. Carver, ABC-Wed. Team

Kite surfing requires more muscle and bravery than I could ever muster! It is fun to watch though-those must be particularly hardy kite surfers!

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods. Love your shots. Our son lived in Kingston NY for about 13 years and we were up there about 6 times. Loved being on the Hudson.

Fun action shots! I'd much prefer to be on your end of the camera than on theirs.

Yes, great examples of power of the wind, the water and the kitesurfer. We have watched kitesurfers from the beaches around Vancouver (BC) and always marvel at their ability to withstand cold, and it seems to us, danger. We did see one fellow go beneath the water (and thankfully above again), but they mostly seem to have amazing skills. I loved your photos and your commentary. Thanks!

Definitely a Powerful Post for P day. Good shots.
I guess they're wearing wetsuits, if it was a cold day.

It must be a very exciting sport, but I do not envy them out there in the cold water and spray. I prefer to watch from a warm and safe vantage point.
