Rickety/ Barn Charm

North of Pickering, Ontario

Sadly, another barn is crumbling.

I am linking to BARN CHARM at Trish's Bluff Area Daily.

Kinda makes you wonder exactly what is holding it up, doesn't it? Something so charming about these falling-down barns...yet so sad. Great photo!

It looks like it well beyond the state of repair.

I can almost hear the wind whistling through the holes while this barn does its utmost to stay standing. Great picture of a barn with a history if only it could talk!

Oh dear, that is a sad sight. It looks as though it's hanging on by its fingernails . . .

I always wonder how these barns are still standing!

In not too many years these old barns will be a rarity. We'd better enjoy them and preserve them through photography now.

This is probably in the middle of your huge urban area, right? ;-)

Perhaps we ought to split this meme up into "Charmin' Barns," and "Barns in Disrepair." I think I know into which one this would fit.

Where's all the green grass and leaves?

That one looks like it is deteriorating from the inside out. Probably worn out from ages of good hard use.

So many too are crumbling around here like this one.

Although it looks weak, it certainly paints a strong picture!...:)JP

These old relics are plentiful around my area, too. It's amazing how long they last! You got a great shot.

Oh my... :/ this barn is really crumbling, but anyway.. I don't know why, it's charming nevertheless.. Is it very old, do you know? It could possibly look like a crumbling barn in my country.. the way the buildnings are built.. :)

Cool pic, but so sad, too.

Oh me oh my that is looking pretty tragic. So sad, I wish it could tell us a story of it's life. MB

You're right! It is a close match as to whose is the most rickety.

Nice find! I wonder how long it'll be standing.

It's so sad to see those beautiful old barns fall into disrepair.

Must have been a beauty in its day! I hate to see things left to decay; we have alot of these in Ohio also.

This was a beauty in it's day. I can almost hear the wind whistling through the rafters and the old boards creaking.

Nice old barn. A shame that it's in such disrepair. But that's the way of old barns, it seems.

awww. poor old beauty.

That one needs some TLC.

It is funny how the silos usually hold up so well where the barns do not.

Very rickety! Poor old thing, but it makes a wonderful photo. Nice work! I love your hepatica in the last post too. Good thing you went out when you did. These delicate wild beauties never last long.

I can only imagine what it would take to repair this barn beyond crumbling. So sad to see. Lovely photo.

I hate seeing the barns like this while at the same time they are the ones I love the most. And you know it would cost a small fortune to repair it now.

Still has lots of charm! My heart can't help but go out to it for trying to hang in there :) When I clicked on your URL I was referred to your comment about Wordpress misbehaving, thank you for commenting in spite of Wordpress being such an issue to commenting right now.

Rickety yes, but he silo stands tall and proud. :)

Dimple said...

Yes, it is sad. It means another farm is being used for something besides farming all too often.

That is slightly rickety alright. lol Reminds me of a barn up the road from me that's on it's way out. It was fine two weeks ago and now part of the roof has caved. It won't be long before the entire barn is down.
